There’s nothing that can compare to spending time with yourself.

Time is the most valuable currency that you have in this life. It’s the only thing that you can spend and not get back.

I remember when I would avoid spending time with myself because I was afraid to sit with my own thoughts. I often wonder if anyone else feels the same way.

This post will be all about how to enjoy spending time with yourself.

Are you ready? Let’s geaux!

What Is Spending Time With Yourself

Spending time with yourself is when you get to be completely free with yourself. It’s an opportunity for you to hear yourself without any distractions from the world.

In these moments, you can finally process what has happen throughout your day without interference. Alone time is the time when you step back and really think about what you think and feel apart from everyone else.

Spending time with yourself allows you to get to know yourself on a deeper level, but it doesn’t happen all at once. You can think of it like a TV series.

Every time you practice is like an episode filled with new knowledge about you.

Benefits Of Spending Time Alone

For a long time, I tried to love God and others, but I skipped the connection between the two. Doing this is like having two pieces of bread with nothing in between claiming that you have a sandwich.

If you don’t love yourself, it’s not possible to love your neighbor. You can only give what you receive and develop within yourself.

In order to be able to love yourself, you must reconnect to your Source and that starts with spending time alone.

It can be scary at first, but the benefits are amazing and you’ll want to do it again and again.

1. Intimacy With God

John 15:4 NLT-Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.

Developing and nurturing a relationship with God is essential to human life. Every creation must remain attached to its source in order to live.

Because you came out of God, you must reconnect with Him in order to thrive in this life.

All healthy relationships require a level of intimacy that challenges you to step out of your comfort zone. Your relationship with God is no different.

If anything this relationship will stretch, teach, and help you grow the most. It’s the most important relationship you’ll ever be in apart from the one you cultivate with yourself.

2. Remembering Who You Are

Ephesians 1:4 NLT-Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.

Before you were sent to this Earth, you were already someone of importance and excellence. This life is all about remembering whose you are and who you are.

The world’s systems do a great job at distracting us from ourselves and have even bamboozled us into thinking that somehow we are what we do and what we possess.

Remember you are not defined by the job you do, the amount of money you make, your grades, clothes, cars, or anything else you can see.

None of these things have the power to determine who you are unless you allow them to. Only the Creator is able to define His creation and you must realize that you had an identity before the foundations of this world.

3. Thinking For Yourself

Romans 12:2 NLT-Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Questioning things can be taboo in the world we live in because change is scary for us. Spending time alone can help you to answer questions like: “What do I think? How do I actually feel? Is this how I want to live or is this how it’s always been?”

Being alone is a powerful way to liberate yourself and help you to think for yourself. It’s cool to spend time with others but it’s not cool to take on their thoughts without having your own.

Everything you’ve been taught is not the way that things should be in your life. It may be time for you to start questioning things.

4. Discovering Your Own Voice

Proverbs 28:1 NIV-The wicked flee through no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

When you have your own mind, you have your own voice. This is not to say that you have to rebel against everything said, but it does give you the power to receive and reject things that don’t align with your life.

Everything starts within your mind, even your voice. You are reading this right now with the voice in your head.

What if that voice was drowned out by all of the distractions of the world? Then you would be losing a piece of your soul(Your soul is your mind, will, and emotions).

Spending time with yourself is your rite of passage to discover your own voice and nourish your soul which leads to the next benefit.

5. Gaining Confidence

Hebrews 10:35-36 NIV-So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he promised.

Whoever you rock with, becomes your confidence. You start to put your trust in them.

When you spend time alone, you start to put that trust in God and yourself, which helps you to gain confidence.

6. Becoming More Appreciative Of Others

Matthew 22:37-39 NIV-The greatest commandment is to love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, soul, and mind. The second which is equally important is to love your neighbor as yourself.

As you start to spend time with yourself, your love for yourself grows. It grows so much that you start to appreciate your unique expression.

If you grow to love and appreciate yourself more, then you will project that love and appreciation onto others.

When this happens, you are being obedient to the most important commandment and your relationships grow stronger as a result.

During my time alone, I realized that I still needed to forgive myself. I noticed how I would go to God and feel bad about not obeying Him in the past. The truth is I was holding on to something that God had already forgiven me for. I needed to forgive myself and this was discovered in my alone time. What about you? Are you still holding on to something from your past? If so, click the image down below to grab your resource to begin the process of forgiving yourself.

How Do You Spend Time With Yourself

I want you to take inventory of how you view being alone. Do you see it as being lonely and depressed or do you see it as fun and liberating?

Why Is It Important To Spend Time Alone

Spending time alone helps you get out of your comfort zone. Let’s be honest Bestie, we LOVE our comfort zones, but honestly we can’t grow in comfort.

There is no way to be comfortable and grow at the same time.

Getting to know yourself may be one of the most uncomfortable things you ever do but don’t you want to find out who you were created to be?

You are aware that you were created on purpose, with purpose, for a purpose right?

No matter your age, sign, or sex; if you are breathing right now you can find out why you were created.

All you have to do is get a little uncomfortable with the Source of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3).

He wants to introduce you to you.

Spending time with yourself is a must! God has blessed you with the beautiful ability to connect with Him, yourself, and others. You deserve to get to know the beautiful creation that is you.
