How To Fall In Love With Yourself Again

Would you like to know how to fall in love with yourself again?

how to fall in love with yourself again

Today I’m going to share some tips with you on how to love yourself again. I hope these tips can inspire you and spark ideas on how you can love yourself throughout your own journey.

We are in this together so I hope you never EVER feel alone. Let’s get right into it!

This post is all about how to love yourself again.

Are you ready? Let’s geaux!

How To Fall In Love With Yourself Again

There has been many seasons where I lacked self-love. If you’re ready to restart your self-love journey, here are some tips on how to fall in love with yourself again:

1. Give Yourself Time To Heal

There’s a reason why you’ve been neglecting yourself. It could stem from your childhood, environment, or anything else that effected you significantly.

You need to realize that your soul has been affected and you don’t have to rush to heal it or even do it alone. Healing takes time and you’re just starting your journey so take your time.

Self-love is a slow journey that requires you to pay attention and begin to meet your own needs with the guidance of God.

Tip For Giving Yourself Time To Heal: Grab a book that you can use as a resource to assist in your healing.

{Book recommendation: Healing the soul of a woman by Joyce Meyer}

2. Take Your Relationship With God Seriously

Your relationship with God is crucial to your self-love journey because your real life is hidden with Christ in God. As you know, God is your Creator and only a creator can define his creation.

When you begin to take your relationship with God seriously, you’ll begin to discover that everything that is in God, is inside of you.

He created you as an exact replica of Himself which is why He calls you His child.

Tip For Taking Your Relationship With God Seriously: Rededicate your life to God if you need to. It’s never too late if you’re breathing.

3. Pay Attention To Yourself

Can I be honest? I always felt like the person who was tossed aside or thrown away. It always felt as if no one was paying attention to me when I needed them to.

Do you ever feel that way? Have you ever felt invisible? If so, then it’s time to start paying attention to yourself.

You can’t continue to wait around for others to notice, support, or acknowledge you. Begin to value yourself by paying attention to you.

Tip For Paying Attention To Yourself: Begin with paying attention to the different emotions you feel throughout the day.

4. Realize Your Worthy

I don’t know about you, but sometimes those negative thoughts have me believing them. Isn’t it crazy how much time we can spend in our minds going back and forth with ourselves?

If you find yourself feeling unworthy, then take a second look at what God has already spoken about you. You were legit worthy before you entered your mother’s womb and He’s always had a plan for you.

All you now have to do is believe His words by accepting them. You’re more worthy than you think!

Tip To Realize Your Worth: Take one scripture and insert yourself in it as if God wrote it just for you.

5. Rewrite Your Story

It’s not too late to be who you’ve always wanted to be. Nine times out of ten, the person you’re desiring to be lines up with God’s vision for your life.

Take some time to write down your dream life. You can become all that you want to be as long as you believe.

Tip To Rewrite Your Story: Write down your dream life in third person.

6. Obey God

Sometimes you can hinder your self-love journey by ignoring and putting off what God has told you. Remember to truly love yourself, you have to take your relationship with God seriously and obeying Him is a part of that.

Tip To Obey God: Go back and do the last thing God told you to do. If you don’t remember, ask Him.

7. Spend Time Alone

Who are you? This is a simple question, but it’s also one of the hardest questions for many to answer.

Spending time alone is a way that you can begin answering this question. What if the only way to fall in love with yourself again is to go MIA for a while?

You’re worth more than anything you’re afraid to miss out on. Don’t be afraid to value yourself.

Tip For Spending Time Alone: Whatever you enjoy doing with others, try doing it alone. For example, going to the movies.

8. Keep Your Word To Yourself

If you say you’re going to do something, don’t disappoint yourself. You worry so much about not disappointing others, but when it comes to you, you disappoint yourself like it’s nothing.

Remember you’re worthy so quit self-sabotaging.

Tip For Keeping Your Word To Yourself: Make one small commitment to yourself and follow through on it day after day.

9. Cut Out ALL Distractions

What’s distracting you from your self-love journey? Is it your ex or thoughts of them?

Are you waiting for someone to come and assist you on your journey? Or are you looking for the “how tos” based on someone else’s experiences?

Bestie, no one knows what’s best for you other than yourself and God. All of the distractions will just prevent you from being able to see the step right in front of you.

If you’re afraid, then welcome to the club. Everyone is afraid at first because it’s something new, but you can’t allow fear to paralyze you.

Stop allowing distractions to prevent you from falling in love with yourself. You deserve to fall madly in love with God’s best creation.

Tip For Cutting Out All Distractions: Take a social media break and/or a phone break.

10. Separate Yourself From Your Experiences

If you look at yourself as a accumulation of habits, mistakes, and experiences, then you will find yourself in a whirlwind of emotions.

You aren’t your mistakes, habits whether good or bad, accomplishments, or experiences. You’re who God says you are.

11. Tell Yourself What You Love About Yourself

When is the last time you complimented yourself? I’m not only referring to your appearance.

I’m also talking about letting yourself know how proud you are of yourself. Some of us need to congratulate ourselves for getting out of the bed because a lot of us deal with anxiety and depression.

12. Get Rid Of Comparison

I’m sure you’ve heard that comparison is the thief of joy, but did you know that comparison is also crippling?

Comparison will lock up your creativity, originality, and cause you to stumble in a lane that was never meant for you. You need to live the life worthy of your own calling.

The next person’s life isn’t easier than yours. They have to water their flowers and cut their grass just like you do. Just because you see a snippet of their life doesn’t mean that it’s all glitz and glam.

Don’t fall for the illusion of comparison. It will suck you in and take all that you have.

Tip For Getting Rid Of Comparison: Take a month long social media break.

13. Take Yourself On Dates

A date doesn’t always have to be between two people. You can go places by yourself and call it a date.

These kinds of dates are called solo dates. A solo date can be as simple as taking yourself to the movies or for a walk at the park.

You can even make them a monthly ritual and schedule them on your calendar!

Tip For Taking Yourself On Dates: Don’t announce it to everyone. Keep this personal between you and God.

14. Get Dressed Even If You’re Staying Home

Ever heard the saying “when you look good, you feel good”? Well, it’s true!

Even if you don’t have plans, don’t skip out on getting dressed for the day. Plus you never know what can happen!

Tip For Getting Dressed If Staying Home: Let this be a moment where you mix and match outfits or wear your two favorite pieces even if they don’t go together.

15. Forgive Yourself For Your Mistakes

You’re a person too! Read that again.

You shouldn’t be holding yourself to anything you’ve done in the past. Forgive yourself because you needed the past you in order to become the present you.

Remember you’re not your mistakes.

Tip For Forgiving Yourself: Write a forgiveness letter to yourself.

16. Practice Positive Self-Talk

Have you ever thought about why negative self-talk comes so natural to you? When you speak about what you don’t like, you’ll continue to see the things you don’t like.

Once you decide to speak about the things you do like about yourself then you’ll experience more of those things.

Remember life and death is in the power of your tongue and whatever you choose to say will bring forth that fruit (Proverbs 18:21 NIV).

Tip For Practicing Positive Self-Talk: Reframe your negative thoughts. Check out this post for guidance.

17. Take Care Of Your Body

Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. It’s literally the only house you get to live in in this realm.

Start treating your home with more respect. Clean it up by eating whole foods. Move the furniture around by exercising.

It’s time for you to look at your body as the temple it is.

Tip For Taking Care Of Your Body: Incorporate fasting in your schedule.

18. Embrace Your Creativity

Because you came from God, creativity is in your bones. What is something that you like to create?

My encouragement to you if you’re still in the process of figuring it out is to try new things.

Here’s a list of things you can try:

  • Gardening
  • Drawing
  • Writing songs
  • Organizing
  • Painting
  • Sewing/Designing Clothes
  • Singing
  • Dancing

And the list goes on..

Tip For Embracing Your Creativity: Don’t doubt that you’re creative. You don’t need to sing, dance, or draw to be creative. You were created by God so by default you’re a creative being.

19. Give Yourself Credit For How Far You’ve Come

You could’ve given up long ago, but you didn’t! That is worthy of a celebration.

What can you do to celebrate yourself?

Tip For Giving Yourself Credit: Write down all of the things you thought you couldn’t get through and tell yourself how proud you are that you got through those things.
