“Just be yourself” can be a contradictory statement when you are trained to be someone else your entire life.
Think about it. From the moment you come out of the womb, you are being enamored with opportunities to take on many different personas.
You fall into a families, friend groups, and social economies that influence the idea of who you can be instead of who you actually are. Before you know it, you are living a life where you are doing instead of being.
It doesn’t help when your parents have their minds set on who you will be and what you’ll do. The truth is that it’s not a parent’s responsibility to administer purpose to a child.
A parent’s responsibility is to cultivate a loving environment where the child can be properly shaped by the One who created them.
The only One who can help anyone be themselves is God. He created you so he knows your purpose.
What Is My Purpose In Life
Purpose is often thought as something you get to do, but it is much more complex than that. While purpose can be about doing, it is more about being.
The definition of purpose is the original intention for a created thing.
When God created you, he marked you with a specific label: human being. He didn’t call you a human doing.
Why do you think that is?
Your purpose is why you were created. Everything that is inside of you including the things you do are a part of your purpose.
Let’s stop getting caught up in the mechanics of purpose and simplifying it to the things we do. Purpose is also the reason why you have that certain personality.
It’s the reason behind the way you think the way that you do.
Purpose is the very reason why you walk and talk the way that you do and for many other things centered around God’s original intention for you.
To understand more about purpose, I recommend this book!
Gen 1:26 NLT says “Then God said Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground”.
From this scripture, you can see that God created you to be before he created you to do. Your first base in purpose is to be like God. It’s the primary reason why you were created.
Then it says you will reign over specific things. Another translation uses the word dominion which means to rule, subdue, or dominate. Bestie, to understand who you are, you have to get to know who created you.
God Says Come Because You’re Invited
I usually would wait until the end to do this but someone needs it NOW.
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life and no one gets to the Father except coming through him (John 14:6).
If you would like to accept Jesus into your life, Romans 10:9 says you only have to confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead.
Here is a prayer for you to say aloud:
Lord Jesus, I repent (which means to turn). I believe you lived, died, and rose again just for me. Today I am inviting you into my life as Lord, Savior, and Bestie Forever. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
Why Is It Important To Be Yourself
The simple answer is because everyone else is already taken. If you’ve ever played on a team whether in sports or in a game, then you know that each position has to be filled or something will be off.
This is how it is in life. You were created to be who you are; not a carbon copy of another created being.
Do you understand that there is never going to be another you? Like ever! That is pretty special.
All of this makes me think of a big pot of gumbo. Every item in gumbo brings its own unique flavor to make it taste divine.
You are a flavor that this world needs. To some, you may be an acquired taste, but not everyone is supposed to have access to you.
Your uniqueness is God’s gift to the world and you need to start valuing all of your quirks. Each element on and inside of your body is intentionally placed where it belongs. You don’t have to look, sound, walk, or talk like anyone else.
Just be yourself. Yes, this can be a contradictory statement but being yourself comes natural.
You may not know exactly who you are, but you can surely distinguish who you are not. Stop trying to fit into a mold that you’re big enough to break. You’re not meant to be contained. It’s way too important for you to be yourself.

What Does It Mean To Be Yourself
To be yourself is to live your life within the realms of who you were always destined to be. It’s learning to be okay with your flaws, embracing your weaknesses, nurturing your strengths, and learning more and more about you each day.
It’s also not allowing others to influence you in a way that goes against who you were designed to be. Its being okay with how you look naturally and not being afraid to live in your authenticity in front of others.
Finally, it’s allowing God to shape you in uncomfortable environments. The true definition of being yourself ultimately lies within the person being asked, but every answer should point to Jesus in some way.
What Does It Mean To Be True To Yourself
Bestie, there is a certain fight that comes with learning and displaying who you are created to be. This is because everything is fighting against you walking in your authenticity.
We live in a world that says “there’s only room for one”. But you have to remember that you are made in the image and after the likeness of God.
This world doesn’t want you to know this. Why do you think it’s not being taught in schools? This goes deeper than religion because it’s not religious at all.
If you were to ever find out who you really are in God, “they” would never be able to contain you. To be true to yourself means to be loyal to who created you.
There are certain convictions that you have that shouldn’t be compromised. God has told you to do something specific (Angie) and you need to obey him. It doesn’t matter what anyone else is doing.
Being true to yourself isn’t hard when you’ve made a decision to be loyal to your Creator.
Bestie, no matter where you are or what you are doing, you will have to be yourself. If you try to be someone else, you won’t feel free.
Just be yourself because everyone else is taken. You will be who God has created you to be.
Bestie, you are loved, honored, and blessed beyond measure.
I love you and remember you are destined to win because He got up!
