Hey Bestie! If you’re in a waiting season, this is for you!
Waiting seasons can be challenging, but having the right perspective makes all the difference. Let’s be honest none of us like to wait.
There’s so much proof to this in the world we live in. We have same day shipping, access to the entire world through social media, and we even can get groceries delivered to our doors now!
It’s no wonder we don’t like to wait! We have lost the practice of delayed gratification. If you’re in a waiting season, this post is for you!
You will learn how to trust God in the waiting, what to do in the waiting, and more!
This post is all about the waiting season.
Are you ready? Let’s geaux!
What Is A Waiting Season
A waiting season is a season where you get the opportunity to get to know God and yourself in a new way. This is the time when God leads you, tests you to know what’s in your heart, humbles you, and observes you to see if you’ll keep his commandments or not.
The waiting season is not all about going from place to place in the physical; it’s more about the making of your character and the maturing of your mind.
There’s a term tossed around when someone becomes famous: ” _______sold their soul”. (I promise I’m going somewhere with this, don’t miss it).
Do you understand what those words actually mean? Your soul is your mind, will, and emotions. In your waiting season, you will be tempted to step outside of God’s will and that is the equivalent to “selling your soul”.
The Culture Of This World
Think about it: Outside of God, there’s a culture of hustling and survival. When you don’t have much and follow the ways of the world, you’d do anything to have the desires of your heart.
All of that, unfortunately, comes at the cost of your mind, will, and emotions. Sadly, some people are claiming to be in God and have sold their soul to other things.
But my question is how can you sell your soul if you were bought at a high price (1 Corinthians 6:20 NIV)? Selling your soul simply means to lose yourself in the things of the world. For example, doing anything for money.
You’re not on the Earth to survive, but you’re here to impact it. Stop the lying, stealing, cheating, and backstabbing to get to the top.
It’s not worth it. You may think “this is not for me”, but if you’ve ever lied on your taxes, neglected to put the full amount of your household to get financial aid for school, printed something at the job without permission, lied to someone, or threw someone under the bus. THIS IS FOR YOU.
My whole point of mentioning this is because we are so quick to call out what others do (especially the “celebrities”) as if we haven’t all fallen short before.
We’re all in the same boat. None of us are perfect or sinless. Everyone has “sold their soul” before in one way or another.
The Pain Of Waiting On God
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile” (Jeremiah 29:11-14).
The waiting you’re experiencing is orchestrated by God. He led you into the waiting just like he did with the children of Israel, Jesus, and many others.
I think we forget a key component when we’re in the wait. We forget that God is with us. Bestie, God is with you in your waiting.
The truth is this you didn’t expect this long of a wait or to be experiencing this kind of wilderness. I know, there’s real pain in waiting on God (trust me).
You may be wondering why pain is associated with your waiting season. I want you to think about the birth of a baby for a second.
Yes, it’s really painful for the mother, but what about the baby? How do you think the baby feels going from the warmth of the womb to a foreign place?
The mother isn’t the only one experiencing some degree of pain, but we never think twice about how the baby feels.
In the waiting, you’re just like a newborn baby entering the Earth. The pain you’re experiencing is the learning and the unlearning.
God is retraining you on how to live as a citizen of Heaven while in the Earth. You’re aware that you’re not from here right?
The pain is the constant war inside of you from living in the systems of the world, but desiring to live the way you were created to. It’s the longing for your freedom.
I have good new though! You can rejoice because you’re on your way to freedom. You will experience the goodness of God in the land of the living (Psalm 27:13).
Encouragement To You
You may feel worst than you’ve ever felt in your life in this season, but can I remind you that healing can be more painful than the breaking?
Think about it. If you’ve ever broken a body part, had a baby, got surgery, fell off a bike, had an infection, gotten scratched, lost weight, or went through withdrawals then you know that recovery seems worst than the initial pain.
Your waiting season is your recovery and yes it’s painful, but you’re literally with the One who is everything. Don’t focus so much on the waiting. Pay attention to him in the moment you’re in.
Take advantage of this time because you’ll never get it back.
Practicing Gratitude
Bestie, it’s easy to complain in the waiting. I would be remiss if I failed to tell you the importance of gratitude.
You perspective of the waiting is very limited. All you see and know is that you don’t like it and you want it to be over.
In every situation, you have complete control over one thing and that is your attitude. Your attitude determines your perspective.
What are the things that you’re grateful for right now? Call them out. You have to speak what you want to see. There is more good happening in your life than bad.
Remember God has huge plans for you and he always has your best interest in mind. Whatever you focus on will grow so focus on the positive.
There’s always something to be grateful for. Your attitude, mindset, and perspective will be the determination of your progression. Partner with God, don’t push him away.
What To Do In The Waiting
1. Seek The Kingdom
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you”.
Matthew 6:33 is quoted a lot, but without the proper context, it becomes another quote with no power. What is a kingdom?
A kingdom is a government ruled by a King impacting a territory with his culture, morality, laws, precepts, and lifestyle. Jesus Christ is not the founder of Christianity.
He did not bring a religion to the Earth; he brought his Kingdom (Isaiah 9:6). To seek the Kingdom and his righteousness means to desire to learn about it.
It all starts with your willingness to learn. Your desire will be followed by the action of reading the bible which is your constitution.
Then Holy Spirit, your Governor and Teacher will lead you into deeper revelation.
2. Become Intentional About Learning About Yourself
What do you really know about yourself? From this moment on you will no longer be a survivor in this world, you will be an impactor in Jesus name!
Bestie, you were created on purpose, with purpose, for a purpose and you are packed with potential.
It’s time to get to know who you are as a spirit, soul, and body (in that order).
3. Hone Your Craft/Gift
What are your gifts? Is there anything you noticed that you can do substantially well? It doesn’t have to be singing, dancing, or drawing. Do you organize well? Can you cook or clean well? Do you have an eye for detail that can be used in the fashion world?
Whatever your gift is press into it. God has blessed you to serve your gifts to the world. You will NOT deposit any of them into the grave.
