This post is all about tips to be happier in life.
Are you ready? Let’s geaux!
Small Steps Lead To Big Changes
In order to be happier, you will need to make some changes. Most people think that big changes are required for happiness, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
The changes you make can actually be very small. One degree of change makes a huge difference. Pilots know this very well.
They call it the 1 in 60 rule. The rule is that for every degree you’re off course, you will end up being one mile off course for every 60 miles traveled.
For example, if you’re on a flight from Los Angeles to Singapore Changi Airport, that’s about an 18 hour flight. If the pilot is one degree off, everyone would probably end up landing in the Indian Ocean or very close to it.
My point is that you don’t have to make huge steps in order for change to happen. You can read a couple books to get you started. There are seven books I recommend to get you started on your journey!
5 Small Steps To Success (Small Tips To Be Happier In Life)
If you’re ready to make a change then these five small steps can help you to do so:
1. Recognize What’s Not Working
Insanity is defined as doing the same thing expecting different results. You need to recognize where you’re going wrong and repent. All the word repent means is to turn.
Turn away from the bad habits that are causing you to self sabotage. Once you recognize what’s not working, you will be on track to happiness.
2. Rewind
The next thing you need to do is go back to see what God has already spoken about you. In the beginning, God created you in his image after his likeness (Genesis 1:26).
He didn’t stop there though! He also gave you dominion over the fish of the seas, the birds of the air, the livestock, over all the earth, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.
The key words in this are image, after, and dominion. Image has nothing to do with the way that you look. The word image means that you have God’s nature and character.
It pretty much means that everything that’s in God is also in you. You were created with God’s character because you came out of him.
To be created after his likeness means that you are fashioned like God. This means that you are God’s junior. Since he is God; you are a god. Because he is Lord; you are a lord. God is King so you are a king.
This brings us to the word dominion. Bestie, dominion means to rule, govern, dominate, and to subdue. Dominion is essentially what a king has over a territory.
Earth is your domain (or territory) that God chose for you to rule while he rules over the Heavens. And this is why you are looking for tips to be happier in life.
It’s not so much the happiness that you’re looking for. You’re looking to operate in your true nature; in your Kingdom authority.
You are the Kingdom of God as long as the Holy Spirit dwells in you. Now the only thing that’s left is for you to discover your God-given calling aka your purpose.
Your purpose is the original intention behind why you were created. What is your specific area of influence on the earth? What are the gifts that you will be serving to the world?
You need your Bestie Forever to discover this and to walk hand in hand with him to operate in it.
3. Determine Your Destination
Once you discover your purpose, you have to partner with God on the end goal. God works backwards meaning that he finishes something and then he gives it permission to start.
His word says that before the foundations of the world that the Lamb was slain (Revelation 13:8). He says that he chose you in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight (Ephesians 1:4).
What is that thing that has always been in your heart since you were a little kid? The thing that just won’t leave you alone, but steadily comes up day after day.
Where do you want to end up? What’s something that you’re looking to do that requires you to change? How are you looking to get to that happiness? What is God showing you? Write it down.
4. Start Stepping In Small Steps
If one degree off puts you off course, then where does one degree on put you? One degree is very small, but it makes a HUGE difference.
Think about what you want to change. Before you can change your life, you have to change at least one habit. What will that habit be?
Will it be your eating habits, the way you respond to something you don’t like, or the way you respond to challenges? What is the thing that you’re looking to change first?
To give you an example of this, I’ll use my own life. I have been trying to get up consistently at 4:00 a.m. for the longest. I told myself, others, and I even wrote out my why with a plan.
Even through all of that, I still ended up failing. If I got up, I didn’t get out of the bed so I ended up falling back to sleep. What I started to do is work my way to getting up at four instead of trying to jump into it cold turkey.
I started off by waking up at 5:30 a.m. and as the days went by, I decreased the time I was able to sleep. Eventually I tried 4:50 am and I saw some success.
Now I’m waking up at 4:15 a.m. on the weekdays LOL and I’m going to be consistent with this time. By the end of the year, I should be at 4:00am!
Something I had to realize is that it never gets easier. Whatever you try to accomplish, the goal remains neutral but through the journey you’re the one who changes.
It’s like just like exercising. Your first couple times you are super super sore, but as you keep going you built up a tolerance and begin to love it!
What will be your small step toward happiness?
5. Be Patient With Yourself
Real change takes time. You’re in this for the long haul so commit to it. You are built to last!
13 Tips To Be Happier In Life
Joy is what you should be praying for. Holy Spirit wants to produce this fruit in you!
It will take some time because fruit is the last thing to grow, but there are some habits you can practice while your fruit is being produced.
1. Grieve Where You Thought You Would Be
It’s safe to say that all of us had a vision of where we would be by now. If you thought your life would be different than it is now, join the club.
It is now time for you to grieve that vision. Talk to God one final time about where you thought you would be and thank him for redirecting you to a place that will better suit you.
Bestie you are on your way to living a life that you’ll love and a life that will glorify God all at the same time!
2. Learn To Love Where You Are Now
You may hate the place you are in right now but because God is there that place is holy.
Confess that out of your mouth “Here is holy”.
Check out the “here is holy” series by Transformation Church. It will change your life for the better!
3. Ask God About His Vision For Your Life
Bestie God’s vision is so much better. He created you so he knows what is best for you. Just ask him to reveal his vision for your life and watch it unfold little by little. It’s worth it!
4. Remind Yourself Of Who You Are In Christ
God has many truths in his word about you Bestie! Check out our affirmation list about who you are in Christ.
5. Practice Mindfulness
Being present in the moment is crucial. I know I know, escaping your reality is something that you want to do. But what if you miss the important moments God is trying to show you here?
6. Express Gratitude
Thank God for everything you possibly can. You won’t be able to see the good unless you make a habit of pointing it out. There is so much that you can be thankful for.
7. Trust God And His Timing
Do you think you would be happy if you were where you wanted to be right now? Is your character ready for where you think you should be?
Do you think you could handle the responsibility? God has you exactly where you need to be. Trust his timing.
8. Write Out What You Want Your Life To Look Like
What do you want to see come to pass in your life according to what God has spoken? If you don’t know what God has said about you that’s okay. Ask him. Until he answers refer to his written word because your ultimate calling will never change.
9. Think About What You’re Learning Now
Each phase of your life is the building block to your next. Don’t rush past these moments because you’ll find yourself missing valuable lessons.
What are you learning right now? What is God trying to teach you?
10. Eat Mood Boosting Foods
What is your diet like? Certain foods are low vibrational foods.
Try adding more color into your diet and increasing your fruit intake. Fruit sugar is actually healthy for you despite what you’ve been told. In fact, God gave you fruit trees and seed bearing plants for food (Genesis 1:29).
You were never supposed to eat meat because nothing was meant to be killed. (This is not to say you have to be a vegan or try to persuade you to become one. It’s just a fact!)
11. Exercise
Get up and get moving. Your body was made for movement. Also Working out can be therapeutic.
It is much more mental than physical. Your body and your mind will thank you in the long run.
12. Take One Step Towards Your Goal
You do not have to do everything in one day. TAKE YOUR TIME.
One step at a time is better than no steps at all. Remember small steps lead to big changes.
13. Smile Because Everything Will Work Out For Your Good
Bestie, everything will work out. God has you and he will work it out. Trust him.
The Difference Between Happiness And Joy
This entire post was about how to be happier in life. I want to make something clear before the end of this post. Happiness is temporary.
God never promised us happiness, but he did promise joy. In fact, joy is a fruit of the Spirit and remember that if anything is in God, it is also in you!
Being happy is a temporary feeling. One minute you can be happy about something and the next minute you could be crying.
Don’t get me wrong, happiness is a great feeling, but it’s based on external factors most of the time.
Joy on the other hand, is long lasting. It’s like the roots of a tree; you never see them but you know that they’re there.
Bestie, you are joy! Lean into the joy that’s already inside of you. It’s okay to seek tips to be happier in life, but let that be your gateway to joy.
Lord show us the true meaning of joy and let joy illuminate from the inside out. In Jesus name.
This post was all about tips to be happier in life.
Remember that you are destined to win because He got up!
