Hey Bestie! The path to patience doesn’t have to be hard.
As humans, we often categorize challenging things as hard, not realizing that what we speak is usually what we get.
We must learn to choose our words carefully because we can manifest both “good” and “bad” things.
The more you tell yourself that something is hard, the less you’ll want to do it.
In all honesty, patience can’t be that hard if it was embedded in you. Are you aware that patience is a part of your original design?
You were made in the image of God after his likeness so if God’s nature is patience, so is yours.
It doesn’t have to be hard. It’s time for us to change our mindset. Patience is different, yes, but it’s what we were designed to walk in.
It’s time for us to get back to our true nature.
This post will be all about the path to patience.
Are you ready? Let’s geaux!
Why Is Patience Important
Patience is a God-idea. To better understand why patience is important, we must understand the purpose of it.
How should we receive patience? Where did patience start? How should we give patience to ourselves? And finally how can we give patience to others in a way that they can receive it?
Man didn’t create patience, so as man, we will never be able to define it on our own. So let’s take a look at what God says about patience:
Proverbs 19:11 says “A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense. What does this mean?
As we know, it takes time to do things in this world. It takes time to gain knowledge as well as apply it to the many situations we face.
When knowledge is applied, it’s then called wisdom. The verse says that it is one’s glory to look over an offense. Okay so now we have to check to see what glory means (Don’t worry, I got you!).
The word glory means full expression, beauty, and ornament.
Bestie, patience is important because you are an expression of God and like an ornament patience compliments your character.
Patience is also a component of love. In 1 Corinthians 13:4, we see that the first thing said is that love is patient. If you express patience, you’re expressing love.
Do you remember when Jesus said to love your enemies? What if being patient with your enemy is a way that you can show them love?
That will be the way that they know you’re a disciple of Christ (John 13:35).
Is Patience A Skill Or A Quality
Patience is a very unique thing. While some may think that patience is a skill, others deem it as a quality.
Well I have good news! Patience is actually both a skill and a quality.
Each and every one of us were created in God’s image after his likeness which means that we all have his nature. Patience is inside of us because it’s God’s nature to exhibit patience.
It’s much like a seed before it’s planted into the ground. Take an apple seed for example.
An apple seed has the potential to be an apple tree when it’s planted in the right environment. You also have the potential to grow in patience.
When it comes to patience being a skill, you have to relearn how to be patient. Bestie, there was a time when everything was perfect.
Man was in the presence of God aka the garden of Eden and man had everything and then some. God gave one command.
He said “Do not touch the tree that’s in the middle of the garden”. Man disobeyed and decided to eat the fruit and sin entered the world.
Sin is simply rebellion. Rebellion gives birth to confusion which is how we lost the quality and the skill of patience.
Patience was and still is inside of us, but because of what happened in the fall of man, we have to relearn how to walk in the nature of who we are.
Do you get what I’m trying to convey Bestie? Patience is a piece of who we are as human beings.
It’s our nature to receive patience from God, give it to ourselves, and then give it to others.
3 Qualities Of A Patient Person
Unfortunately, patience doesn’t come naturally to us. It’s inside of us, but we have to allow God to work patience out of us.
It’s important that we receive patience from God, give it to ourselves, and then to others. Bestie, you have patience in you so believe it.
Here Are Some Qualities Of A Patient Person:
1. They Are In Tune With Their Innate Ability
This has been repeated many times throughout this post. You already have patience inside of you. Why? Because God is patience and you came out of him.
An innate ability is something you’re born with and because you’ve accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior; your spirit was reborn into a life of patience.
2. They Are Quick To Listen, Slow To Speak, And Slow To Get Angry
Have you ever been in a heated discussion and all you wanted was to get your point across? We’ve all been there!
But have you ever listened to the other person’s point of view and tried to see their perspective? Sometimes putting your feelings aside to listen can make patience arise.
Try it out! Practice being quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. This is a way patience will develop.
3. They Understand God More
One of my favorite scriptures is 2 Peter 3:9 because it expresses the love of my Heavenly Father. Bestie, we will always want things and it’s so like us to want things in an instant.
This scripture describes God’s nature. It says that “he isn’t being slow to his promise as some may think, but he is being patience because he doesn’t want anyone to perish”.
In this scripture, he isn’t just referring to eternal life. If you desire anything right now or if you’re in a waiting season; it’s for your good.
Maybe God is waiting for you to obey or understand that your inner being is more important than your outward circumstances. He desires for you to know who you are in him more than anything.
He’s a good Father who will not give you anything before you’re ready. He even wants you to master your waiting season and to understand that he does everything for his purposes and for your benefit.
You are at the center of his love!
Why Is Patience Important To Success
Everyone wants to be successful, but true success is no accident. You have to work at whatever you’re aspiring to do in order to be successful.
This means that you often will have to go without things for a certain period of time. Success often requires sacrifice.
The reason why patience is needed is because everything won’t unfold for you in a moment. We are so used to things being fast that we forget the beauty of growth.
Honestly, Bestie, you may fail a thousand times before you’re successful once. And I must be honest with you…I am speaking to myself as well.
I’ll be honest: I had a moment where I broke down because honestly walking in faith is scary because there is no guarantee of anything you’re aiming at.
In some moments, all you have is a word from God and you have to try with everything in you to hold fast to that Word. That Word is your guarantee because God is not a man that he shall lie (Numbers 23:19).
Another reason why patience is needed for success is because you are becoming more of yourself as you move along in your journey.
If you’re doing it God’s way, then there’s pockets of success in every moment. You and I just have to be willing to look for it.
How To Practice Patience Everyday
It’s super easy to get frustrated in the world we live in. To combat frustration, there are a few things you can do to practice patience.
Start by picking one thing from this list to do daily. I wanted to include multiple things because practicing patience is not a one size fit all type of thing.
Here Are 9 Ways To Practice Patience Everyday:
- Remind yourself of who you are
- Pull out the good in each situation you face
- Take things one step at a time
- Center yourself
- Learn about mindfulness
- Study yourself
- Mind your business
- Learn to walk away
- Release the past and work through those issues
The path to patience doesn’t have to be hard. Patience is inside of you; it just has to be worked out of you. God’s nature is patience so your nature is patience.
This post was all about the path to patience.
Remember you are destined to win because He got up!
