Learning to trust God is the ultimate goal of life.
Trusting God means to place your confidence in who He says He is. It’s not enough for you to know God through someone else.
You must get to know His character for yourself and have faith in the plans and promises He has for your life. Although they say it’s not easy, we were designed to be our authentic selves in Christ and re-learning to trust God is our life’s work.
Trusting God is our nature because He is us and we are Him. We were always meant to be one. We were designed to know God because He made us in His image after His likeness to be just like Him in this Earthly realm.
Now it’s time for us to remember how to trust Him.
This post is all about learning to trust God.
Are you ready? Let’s geaux!
What Does It Mean To Trust God
Colossians 1:16 NLT-For through him, God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him.
Everything in this life is spiritual. Before you see anything with your natural eyes has happened in the spiritual realm first.
If you’ve experienced deja vu and felt like you lived through a situation before, it’s because you are a spirit. You’re literally just like God.
God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. You are a spirit, with a soul, inside of a body. The spiritual realm is more real than the physical.
Even when you have an idea in your mind, it isn’t seen until you create it using physical material your mind is spiritual while your brain is the home of your mind.
It’s the same with you being a spirit inside of a body. Trusting God is easy for you, but you just have to re-learn who you are and whose you are.
This is the true definition of confidence. Once you begin to develop your confidence in God, your trust for Him will grow.

Learning To Trust God Can Transform Your Life
Life was always meant to be simple. Trusting God simplifies your life because it cancels worry.
Think about the last time you worried about something. Did anything good come from it? Or was it just a waste of time and a robber of peace?
Spending time worrying will never alter the circumstances you face. The only thing that worrying will do is increase stress, anxiety, and impact your health in a detrimental way.
Trusting God does the exact opposite of worry. When you trust, you become like a child again and the benefits are infinite.
Let’s take a look at a few together:
5 Benefits Of Trusting God
1. Personal Relationship
Jeremiah 32:37-38 NIV-I will surely gather them from all the lands where I banish them in my furious anger and great wrath; I will bring them back to this place and let them live in safety. They will be my people and I will be their God.
Trust is the glue that binds any relationship together. Imagine being able to be in a relationship with someone who genuinely wants the BEST for you at all times.
What I described is possible through your relationship with Christ. It’s more than possible to have personal relationship with the One who created all things seen and unseen.
And the good news is that He chose you before you’d ever think to choose Him (John 15:16 NLT).
2. Only Being Responsible For What He Placed In Your Hands
Matthew 25:15 NIV-To one he have five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.
Have you ever taken on too much or got overwhelmed by the thought of taking on too much? What if you were only responsible for a portion of that load?
Remember, trusting God makes life simpler. As you trust, He begins to align you on the specific path that He designed for you and He encourages you to take things one step at a time.
It may look like a lot you have to do, but soon you’ll discover what you’re actually responsible for. Once you do, you’ll be able to let go of the rest.
There’s no need to carry more than you can handle.
3. Inner Peace
Colossians 3:15 NIV-Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
Would you believe me if I told you that the definition of peace is “quiet confidence”? God said that you would have peace that surpasses understanding as you pray with thanksgiving and present your requests to Him (Philippians 4:7 ESV).
Peace can be felt externally, but it starts from within. Inner peace can only come from believing God and acting on His word which is ultimately trusting Him.
Would you like some inner peace? Me too!
4. Emotional Stability
Proverbs 25:28 MSG-A person without self-control is like a house with its doors and windows knocked out.
Emotions can truly have a mind of their own sometimes. One thing you must remember is that your feelings are supposed to be your indicators and not your dictators.
Think about how there are lights on the dashboard of a car. The lights only illuminate if there’s a need that you have to tend to. It’s the same with your feelings and emotions. They indicate a need.
5. Life Transformation
2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV-Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
If you’re in the same place you were a year ago, that shows your level of trust in God. Change doesn’t always mean going to a new place.
The change you experience with God is completely up to you. He is a Teacher who goes at the pace of His students.
If you refuse to learn the lesson and don’t pass the tests, you’ll find yourself repeating the grade just like in school. The life transformation comes as you trust God enough with the material He has given you.
If the choice in life comes down to trusting God or remaining the same, choose to trust in God.
The Role Of Faith In Trusting God
Hebrews 11:1 KJV-Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence if things not seen.
Life requires you to have faith in God. You can’t see Him, but you believe and use physical things in hopes to cultivate a relationship with Him.
I’m not sure if you realize it or not, but you can only see the tent that you live in called the body. You’re spirit and soul are hidden within you waiting to steer your life.
Remember you’re a spirit, with a soul, inside of a body.
Trusting God requires you to live as if you already have what He’s told you you’d have. For example, you may live with your parents, but God has said you’ll get married one day.
Instead of worrying about when you’ll move, activate your faith by acting like you already live on your own. You may have to tweak and adjust some things, but prepare. Stop living as if you’re missing out on something and live in your present moment.

5 Practical Steps For Learning To Trust God
As a new (or mature) believer in Christ, you need to always be willing to learn how to trust God. Remember, God is the one who “birth” you into the Earth so He knows what’s best for you.
This process will be one of ease as you re-learn how to trust God. Here are five practical steps for your journey:
1. Rededicate Your Life To God
Luke 15:20 NIV-So he got up and went to his father. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
God loves you so much. His priority in life is to show you how much He loves you. If you have walked away and you’ve decided to come back, He is NOT mad at you.
God isn’t standing at the door saying “I knew you couldn’t do it”. He’s just happy that you’re choosing Him and the best version of yourself which is in Him.
To dedicate means to devote your time and efforts into something. Rededicating means to dedicate yourself again.
Everyday will present new opportunities to give your time and efforts to either God or other things. Choose God and He will add the other things to yo (Matthew 6:33 ESV).
2. Learn And Focus On God’s Character
Hebrews 12:2 NKJV-fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
The word of God is jam packed with scriptures about His character. He wanted you to know Him intimately so take advantage of the beautiful gift of the Bible.
Focus on His character so that no one can trick you into believing false pretenses of your Father and Friend.
3. Choose Surrender And Follow Him
John 12:25 ESV-Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
As long as you hold on to you’re old habits and ways of thinking, you’ll continue to self-sabotage. How long will you stand in your own way?
4. Obey Him Even In The Little Things
John 14:15 NKJV-If you love me, then you’ll obey my commandments.
Have you ever heard of the five love languages? A love language is the way you can receive love from another person.
God also has a love language and His is obedience. If you need help and want to understand how to walk in obedience to God, this post has you covered.
5. Remember Not To Be Easy On Yourself
Philippians 2:13 NLT-For it is God gives you the desire and the power to do what is pleasing to him.
This is something that is new so it will take time. You have your whole life to learn about God and yourself so never feel like you have to rush.
There will be moments that you don’t understand and you will fall many times. The Bible says a just man falls seven times and gets back up.
Each time you get up, you’ll be a little stronger. And remember God is with you and He is doing the heavy lifting so trust Him.
