Hey Besties! Embracing your inner child is one of the most monumental things you can do.
In Matthew 18, Jesus called a little child to him. He stated: “Unless you turn from your sin and become like little children, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. And anyone who welcomes a little child on my behalf is welcoming me.
Have you ever wondered why you are called a child of God? Why do you think that a child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?
This post will be all about embracing your inner child.
Are you ready? Let’s geaux!
Have You Been Living Like A Child
Can you remember a moment in childhood when you laughed so hard that your stomach was in knots? Or maybe you peed a little in your pants?
Everyone needs this kind of laughter even as they get older. God intended for you to live in moments like this forever. He wants you to enJOY laughter.
When you are full of joy, you laugh, and it is your right to live in joy. In laughter, you get to experience a piece of the joy that was bought for you. This is the joy that the world cannot take away.
If you have children or have ever been around a child, you can see how innocent they actually are. It’s amazing to see how children are untainted by the realities of the world, yet they’re surrounded by it.
A child can be in the worst possible situation and not even know it because of their inability to worry and ample amount of trust that everything is fine.
They believe that anything is possible, are very naïve, and are like walking sponges. They carry what I believe God wants you to carry: the ability to just be.
Even though children don’t fully know themselves yet, they are content with just being a child. They are content with being free in the creation that is them.
Where is your inner child? Are you embracing him/her? Or has your inner child been tainted by this world?
For a specific Bestie:
I see an image of your inner self. You have your inner child strapped to a chair with duct tape on your mouth. You’re embarrassed to embrace your true self because somewhere along the road, you faced a heartache that you think cannot be fixed.
You don’t think you deserve to be restored back to the place of innocence, love, and joy.
Your innocence was tried at a young age and from that moment on you’ve been trying to figure out why there’s a hole in your heart that can’t get filled by anything external.
God sees you and he wants you to start embracing your inner child. He wants you to laugh again, dance again, hope again, and believe again because you are his child.
You deserve love, but it is time to stop trying to find it in others. It is time for you to look in your own heart and embrace the inner child that has been screaming for your help.
To start embracing your inner child, you will need to redevelop some characteristics of childlike faith.
5 Characteristics Of Childlike Faith Your Inner Child Needs:
Embracing your inner child becomes a little simpler once you redevelop these characteristics. I was able to learn these from a child who understood her position back in 2019. It was a very eye opening and humbling experience and I would like to share it with you.
Your Inner Child Needs Dependence
While in the womb, a baby can only receive nutrients through what is known as the umbilical cord. The umbilical cord is attached to the baby up until birth and once the baby is outside of the womb the umbilical cord is no longer the baby’s source.
The baby will now have to receive from the mother (and father) externally which shows that the baby will remain dependent upon them until he grows up.
Even when the child has grown up, there will still be a need for his parents in his life. His needs will change, but there will always be a need for that connection in some way.
The child will no longer be a dependent of his parents, but he will depend on them to remain in relationship with him.
No matter how old you get you will need your heavenly Father. You will always be a dependent of God. You are his child and this will never change.
Somewhere, somehow you’ve been “being grown” for so long that you think that your umbilical cord has fallen off of God’s womb.
You were never supposed to be detached because God is your forever Source.
Think about the fish. These creatures remain in water because water is their source. They are dependent upon the water because it is their means of survival.
The moment a fish comes out of water, there’s only a matter of time before they die.
As a child of God, you have to remain dependent on Him because it’s the only way that you’ll be able to live as you were intended to.
You came out of God. You were made in His image after His likeness (Genesis 1:26). He wants to reveal the real you to you.
Being his child, your dependence on Him is your means of survival. Stop trying to detach from him and trying to cut your umbilical cord.
Your Inner Child Needs Courage And Confidence
When you are dependent upon your Father, there is a thing that happens where you become confident in him. It’s something about being with Daddy that makes you bold.
The cool thing about spending time with God is that you get affirmed and informed about who he is and who you are in him.
This gives you the courage to stand in the face of something that looks dead and declare that it’s alive. He gave you that authority and wants to constantly remind you of your position in him.
Have you ever met a kid who was in love with their mommy or daddy? If you have, then you know their world revolves around mommy and daddy. And if you offend them, guess who their calling? Mommy or daddy.
Ever wonder why? It is because they are confident in who their parents are and their position as their child.
I remember working with kids and there was this little girl who stood out to me in a unique way. One day I jokingly said “you’re not my friend anymore” and she told me that I hurt her feelings. She also said that she would tell her mommy on me.
As I remember this moment, I begin to think of how much confidence she had. She knew that her mommy had her back simply because of who she was.
This little girl also had courage because she told me straight up that she was telling her mommy on me.
How many times do you run to tell Daddy when someone hurts your feelings?
What about when you hurt someone else’s feelings or mess up? Are you confident in who your Daddy is and who you are in Him?
Your Inner Child Needs Honesty
The little girl was not only courageous and confident; she was also honest. Before she told me that she was going to tell her mommy on me, she told me that I hurt her feelings.
She was honest about why she was going to tell her mommy on me. Have you ever been honest enough to tell someone that they hurt your feelings?
Being honest also shows how courageous and confident you are. What about being honest with Daddy?
God loves you and wants you to be honest with him. Do you think that if you’re honest with God then he’ll send you to hell? Is that what you’ve been taught?
God is more than aware that you don’t like where he has you and that you’re angry with him for not blessing you when you thought he should. He’s trying to get you to master your waiting season by trusting him.
You can be honest with Him because of your position as His child. He has given you the ability to approach him confidently again because of what Jesus has done for you!
Your Inner Child Needs Creativity
When I worked with kids, it gave me an opportunity to tap into my creativity. You may have loved to be creative as a kid, but when you became an adult, you let your creativity slip away.
You may even be in a space where your creativity has lied dormant for years. It’s time that you tap into your creativity again.
It’s time for you to let go of the mindset that everything you do has to make you money. You were never created to chase money because money is meant to chase you.
What is that thing that you loved to do before you started to make money? Is there anything that you just enjoy doing?
Revisit whatever that is and find your joy in creating again. You may not think that you’re a creative person, but you are.
Want to know how I know? It’s because you cam e out of God and he is the Creator! You have so much creativity inside you ready to come out.
Please do not let the systems of this world dim your light of creativity! You never truly know what you can do until you try.
What if you find your purpose through being creative?
You are not too old or too young to be doing something you genuinely enjoy. Don’t fall for the lie that you are wasting your time.
Just be yourself and be creative in whatever way you choose. Embracing your inner child couldn’t get much simpler.
Remember you are destined to win because he got up!
