Hey Bestie! Have you been wondering how to be content with yourself?
I know. I know. All you want is to be better. It’s easy to think far off into the future instead of focusing on the now.
Why do we do that Besties? It’s because we’ve been conditioned to always strive for more instead of being content with our now.
Today we’re going to learn how to be content with ourselves.
This post is all about how to be content with yourself and more!
Are you ready? Let’s geaux!
What Does The Bible Say About Contentment
Before we jump into what the bible says; let’s define contentment.
Contentment is a decision to be okay in the knowledge of whose you are and who you are.
It’s a state of satisfaction with the understanding that where you are now is just the building block to where you’re going. The best visual for contentment is a staircase or the evolution of a baby to an adult.
You don’t have to mope around or fuss about going anywhere that’s already guaranteed to happen. How crazy would it be for a toddler to fuss about one day being an adult?
When we don’t operate in patience, contentment becomes nonexistent because in reality they are “close cousins”. This means that if God has told you anything, you can be content no matter what happens along the way because it will happen.
Contentment is also the understanding that everything you’ll ever want and need is in God. All that you see in this realm and the things that you don’t see all come from the most high God.
Bestie, do you realize that the highest form of yourself is your spirit? You are a spirit…with a soul..inside of a body.
Your spirit doesn’t really care about the things of this world, but its been watered down by the cares of your flesh. Why? It’s because your spirit knows that you come from a Kingdom that this world can’t even compare to.
Unfortunately, everything was flipped upside down the moment sin entered the world. This is why you look at the body as the real you and are so enamored by your emotions.
Even your three brains were discombobulated. Yes, you have three brains Besties. They are the enteric, the cardiac, and the cephalic brain.
Simply your three brains are your gut, your heart, and the brain in your head. What brain do you follow first?
Many of us follow our guts, then our hearts, and our heads don’t stand a chance after that. This is a major reason why cleansing the body is a must!

The Not So Secret Behind Learning To Be Content
Shhhhhhh! It’s not a secret. Contentment can easily be taught to a little child, so it can for sure be taught to you!
I can remember my parents used to buy two of everything for my sister and I because if one was left out; it would be trouble. You may be there if you’re a parent of two little children. But really, contentment isn’t hard….it just will take some mind renewal.
For instance, you might be on social media one day and see someone is doing something similar to what you want to do. Instead of getting jealous or envious, you can go to God and ask about what he’d like you to do.
There’s nothing wrong with watching others and being inspired, but to want what they have is called coveting.
In fact, the moment you try to do what someone else does, you’ll fall flat on your face because you weren’t created to be like them.
You are your own expression of God and he created you perfect. When you try to do what another person is doing its called trespassing.
I know you’ve seen signs that says “no trespassing” before. This is what’s meant in the prayer template that says “And forgive our trespasses, as we forgive those that trespass against us.”
It’s speaking of purpose and urgency to stay in your own lane because sometimes we can try to drift off into other’s lanes.
So how can we learn to be content?
3 Powerful Ways To Learn To Be Content
1. Get To Know God For Yourself
Many of you are serving a god that was forced upon you. God is not a genie nor is he someone who doesn’t hold you to a standard.
You can’t expect to know God when all you are after is his hand. What about his mind? Because without his mind, you wouldn’t have come into existence.
It’s time for you to get to know God for yourself. Your pastor, grandmas, and friends only know so much. Don’t miss out on connecting with your Source by trying to live vicariously through someone else.
He created you to have an authentic relationship with him as well.
2. Get To Know Yourself
Bestie, the world has you so busy that you feel that you have no time for yourself. Don’t let your busy schedule cause you to miss out on who you are.
You are a beautiful expression of the most high God and you’re worth getting to know. Start spending some time alone for a few minutes each day.
It may cost you a little sacrifice. You might have to cancel some things or get up a little earlier or even stay up a little later. But all in all, it’ll be worth it.

3. Slow Down
How can you become content when you’re constantly on the go? There’s a time for everything under Heaven and maybe God is calling you to slow down in this season so that he can teach you contentment.
There’s a cost to living the fast life and honestly it doesn’t end well. Contentment is learned in steps just like the visual of the staircase.
One step at a time is all you need and its better to learn now than later. Your life should be one of purpose so if you’re busy doing a lot without purpose you’re honestly just tiring yourself out.
How To Be Content With Yourself
Honestly Bestie, this question is a hard one. The answer isn’t hard, but knowing the direction to go with answering it is.
This question can be answered in so many different ways but I’ll go where I believe my spirit is leading me.
So let’s talk a little about how to be content with your right now body. I know you want to lose weight Bestie and before you do, I want to encourage you with my story.
Five years ago, I was over 220 lbs and I was miserable. I wanted to lose weight so bad, but I didn’t know how to start. I found myself taking pills, starting and stopping with diet and exercise, and telling myself over and over I’ll start on Monday.
During that time I had to make a decision to love myself right where I was. Contentment for me during those days was getting up, trying, and knowing that one day I’d be in a different place.
If you’re struggling with your body, please know that you have the power to change your reality. It all starts within your mind.
3 Tips To Become Content With Your Body
1. Accept Reality Of Where You Are
As I told you, I was once 230 lbs and for me that was huge on my five foot five frame. I couldn’t run from the reality of where I was and neither can you.
You have to face it and accept where you are Bestie!
A good way to accept yourself right where you are is getting into the mirror and verbally telling yourself that you love yourself.
My biggest insecurity was my tummy and in order to become okay I would tell my tummy that I love her and I told myself that I would love my tummy away.
Talk to your insecurities and shower them with love. It’s your body and you can either love it or continue to hate it.
I want you to choose to love it and watch how quick you begin to transform before your eyes.
2. Give Yourself Love Now
Bestie, believe it or not it’s not the excess weight, discolored skin, or whatever else you may think is causing your discontentment with your body. It’s your perception or the way you’re conditioned to think about beauty (or handsomeness for my fellas).
You can honestly have the “perfect body”, “perfect skin”, and “perfect health” and still think that there’s something wrong with you!
Being content with yourself starts in your mind. What does God say about you as his creation? This is the standard and the only thing you should ever base your worth in.
God’s word about you will never change, but your physical will always change. If it’s not written in the word, it shouldn’t be written on your heart aka your mind.
Let’s learn to give ourselves love now.
3. Establish A Routine
You have to put feet to your faith. When I was heavier I used to pray and ask God to help me lose weight. Do you know what he said back to me?
He said “I’ll help you, but I won’t do anything that you can do for yourself”. And honestly this same answer can apply to multiple areas of our lives.
Let me ask you this question: How many times have you thought that you can just pray something away?
Prayer is powerful, but we are holistic beings. God will NOT do everything for you when he put you on this earth as an able body.
Everything requires a process so what are you going to do? You can start off by eating healthy and exercising regularly.
Consistency is key and building on that consistency will help you to become content with yourself.
This post was all about how to be content with yourself.
Remember you’re destined to win because he got up!
