Hey Bestie! Are you looking to grow in patience?
Do you ever pray for patience? Have you noticed that once you pray, more weird things start to happen? Do you understand why?
When you pray for patience, God doesn’t send a patience elixir to you from Heaven. He sends the things that will work patience out of you.
God has blessed you with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places (Ephesians 1:3). All of the patience you need is already inside of you.
You were once a child, but the adult version of you was hidden inside of your being.
Every girl has a woman inside of her and every boy has a man inside of him. Patience is in you Bestie. You just have to allow it to grow.
Every single day is another opportunity for you to grow in patience.
This post is all about how to grow in patience.
Are you ready? Let’s geaux!
What Is Patience
Patience is your ability to hold onto the version of yourself that is able to be longsuffering. You may have heard of the fruit of the Spirit and that patience is one of them, but has anyone ever explained what this means?
Fruit is usually the last thing to grow on a tree. Apples, plums, pears, figs, olives, peaches, avocados, lemons, bananas, mangoes, and oranges trees all started as seeds.
Once the seeds were put into the ground, the process of growing started and the end result was the trees that eventually grew fruit. Like a tree, you will grow the fruit of patience as long as you’re planted.
You don’t have to pray for the fruit because you were designed to grow it. You were made in the image of God which means that you have his nature (Genesis 1:26).
The fruit of patience is inside of you because God is patient. As long as the Holy Spirit is inside of you and you’re following him; you will produce fruit.
Honestly, you can even claim that you are patience because whatever God is, is in you. You are a little version of him.
3 Reasons Why Is It Hard To Have Patience With Yourself
Things become challenging when understanding is absent. When you know something, you begin to understand it, and understanding leads you to apply it (Although sometimes we know better, but don’t do better!).
Here are three reasons why it may be hard to have patience with yourself:
1. You Don’t Understand Yourself
A huge reason why it can be hard to have patience with yourself is because you don’t understand who and what you are. Being human is a very special thing.
Out of all creation, God decided to make you in his image after his likeness. He decided that you would be the temple that his Spirit would reside in.
He made you to not only possess things like patience, but to fully embody them. Once you come to terms with the true essence of who you are, then things like patience, become a little bit easier to give to yourself.
Having patience with yourself will still require work even after you begin to understand yourself.
Trees exert the most energy when fruit is being produced, so you will need to give your best when learning how to grow in patience with yourself.
2. You Don’t Understand Patience
Another reason it may be hard to have patience with yourself is because you don’t understand what patience is. God is the Source of patience.
If you’re getting your definition of patience from the world, then you won’t understand what it is. God has a way of growing patience in your life that is different from what any other person has experienced.
Apple and fig trees both produce delicious fruit, but they grow extremely differently from each other.
3. You Don’t Practice Giving To Yourself
The final reason why it may be hard to have patience with yourself is because you don’t practice giving patience to you. It’s so easy to forget about yourself when you’re busy helping others.
This is why you have to practice romanticizing your life. You can’t give anything that you’ve never grown.
A good farmer is one who grows his crops in a way that is ethical and aligning with the natural ways of farming so that he and others can benefit from the harvest.
Once the harvest comes, he will delight in giving but will also keep some for himself to make sure its of quality.
How To Be Patient With Yourself
1. Seek The Kingdom And His Righteousness
A kingdom is the governing influence of a king over his territory, impacting it with his personal will, purpose and intent, producing a culture, values, morals, and lifestyle that reflect the king’s desires and nature for his citizens (Myles Munroe).
The Kingdom has everything you desire. You have access to it all right now. You don’t have to wait to go to Heaven to live in the Kingdom.
Patience is a part of righteousness. As you seek, God will teach you more and more.
2. Get A Clear Understanding Of Patience
What is patience? Think about why you’re desiring to grow in patience. Which direction is God leading you in order for you to grow in patience?
Reminder: You are NOT alone in this.
3. Practice What You Learned
Once you get the knowledge, you will need to apply it. Will it be easy? No. But it will be worth it! Practice what you’ve learned Besties!
5 Habits Of A Patient Person
Patience is your ability to hold onto the version of yourself that is able to be longsuffering. There are many habits required to grow in patience. Today we’ll go over five!
1. Growing In Patience Requires Humility
Humility is not saying “I try’ when someone compliments you. It’s also not acting like you don’t know that you did an excellent job at something.
Humility is taking a stance in your position as a human, understanding that you are great, and also that you have limitations.
It’s being teachable and being honest when you don’t know something. A humble person also is okay submitting to authority.
2. Growing In Patience Requires You To Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone
Your comfort zone stagnates your growth in everything. Patience is a fruit of the Spirit so you are destined to grow in it, but even trees have the potential to be dormant.
If you’re in your comfort zone, you can forget about growing in anything.
3. Growing In Patience Requires You To Partner With God
God designed you to partner with him. The reason why you’re on Earth is because you’re a king just like God (Psalm 24).
He made you to have dominion over the Earth while he has dominion over Heaven. Learning all of this will require patience.
Right now, you may not know how to partner with God, but you’re learning every single day.
4. Growing In Patience Requires You To Leave Old Habits Behind
Becoming is an action word that means that you are in a process. You cannot become if you are settled in a mindset that keeps you stagnant.
In order to grow in patience, you must develop new habits and leave the old ones behind.
5. Growing In Patience Requires You To Get To Know Yourself
You may be wondering why I didn’t put this one first. It’s because by now you should KNOW that you’re created in God’s image after his likeness.
Not only do you have patience in your possession, but you are patience. It doesn’t stop here though! Be willing to learn all about yourself as a spirit, soul, and body.
Bestie, to grow in patience you must:
- Understand what patience is.
- Realize why it’s hard to give patience to yourself.
- Develop the five habits of a patient person.
This post was all about how to grow in patience.
Remember you’re destine to win because He got up!
