Hey Bestie! Feeling forgotten is a hurtful feeling that can really get you down if you let it.
If you’re in a state of feeling forgotten, this post was written specifically with you in mind.
This post is all about feeling forgotten.
A sparrow is a tiny bird only measuring at about 14-15 centimeters. You may have seen a million sparrows in your lifetime and never looked twice at them.
These birds are so common that they almost insignificant to some.
They’re kind of like the things you drive past daily; you may not pay attention until you slow down to take everything in.
When was the last time you slowed down to pay attention to yourself?
Feeling forgotten may be a symptom of an underlying issue involving your self-worth and self-esteem.
Feeling Forgotten By God
Do you know who you are? Not what you do, but who you are.
Who are you?
If you started to name things that you do, then it’s safe to say that you don’t know who you are yet.
You are NOT what you do, even though the world tries to define you by that.
The things that you do like being a mother, a doctor, a salesperson, a licensed cosmetologist, or a business owner are what you practice.
You know how a doctor says that he “practices medicine” or how a lawyer says that she “practices law”; it’s the same thing.
Part of the reason why you feel forgotten is because you are looking externally for identity when you were given identity before you were born.
Bestie, according to God you are a king (Revelation 17:14). According to God, you were made in his image, after his likeness (Genesis 1:26).
What does this mean? This means that you were made to be a representative of God on earth and you were created to be exactly like him.
It means that whatever is in God is in you, but we need to deal with what happened to you. Before you can accept God’s truth for your life, you need to go back and face your past.
So I want you to start by truthfully answering this question: How do you see yourself?
Has God Forgotten Me
The mere fact that you were created in God’s image after his likeness is proof that he can NEVER forget about you.
Even if your father and mother forsake you, God never will (Psalm 27:10). You have to unlock this truth with your belief however.
I want you to think about what is making you believe that God has forgotten about you.
- Is it because you see that everyone around you is getting blessed?
- Is it because you’re uncomfortable in the season that you’re in?
- Is it because you want God to give you what you want right now?
Identify what is making you feel forgotten. Until you come to terms with what’s feeding this lie, the truth will never become real to you.
Let’s Look At A Passage Of Scripture Together:
Matthew 10:29-31 says “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs on your head are all numbered. Fear not. Therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows”.
In this passage, Jesus was getting the disciples ready to go out and be proof that the Kingdom of God had arrived. He prepped them by telling them what to do, what to say, and most importantly how to act.
What Jesus stressed to them was that they needed to fear not because when it comes to following him; things get a little hectic.
He warned them of what’s to come and followed up with the reality of how much the Father cares.
Besties, sparrows were really looked at as insignificant because back in the day they were buy one, get one free. Now I know that we all love a deal, but no one really wanted sparrows.
Jesus used something insignificant to show you that if he cares about something that seems less than then he cares about you even more.
This Is What He Says To You:
“How can I forget you when you’re my image?” I love you so much that I created you to be exactly like me, a ruler.
The reason why you exist is to be the visible representation of my invisible glory. You are my glory.
I know that you’re seeing many things right now that are making you feel overlooked and forgotten but I promise my child I can never forget about you.
You’re not a number to me like you are in the world. Your name is etched on the palm of my hand (Isaiah 49:16). I know you by name.
It’s impossible to forget you so I need you to not forget about yourself. You need to start to take better care of yourself; not just your body.
I am speaking holistically about your being; your mind, body, and soul. You are worth so much more than you think so I need you to start to see yourself the way I see you.
Everyday practice saying at least one thing that I have said about you until you begin to believe it. Just one thing.
Remember I love you. You are my image and everything that’s in me is in you.
