2021 was the year when I questioned “Is God always with us?”
I realized that this question came at a time when every one of my friends left me. I was abandoned by people and the enemy was trying his best to convince me that God had abandoned me too.
Maybe you are in a season where you are asking “Is God still with me? You may have done something you aren’t proud of and think God has left you because of it.
Whatever situation you’ve found yourself in, know that God is always with you.
This post is all about answering the question “Is God always with us”.
Are you ready? Let’s geaux!
The Meaning Of ‘God Is Always With Us’
Before we get any further, I need to demystify the meaning of God being with us. God being with you doesn’t mean that He has you under surveillance.
Just because God sees all and knows all doesn’t mean that He is spying on you or waiting for you to mess up. You don’t need to tip toe around in life thinking that everything you do is wrong.
Even when you curse, drink, smoke, or etc you don’t need to hide that from God. He already knows what you do so why try to clean yourself up?
If God is always with you that means that He has accepted you along with the things that you do. He will help you to clean up your habits as long as you give Him your heart.
But the thing you need to understand is that, God wants YOU! God is the one who chose you; you did not choose Him ().
The lie that tells you that you need to clean yourself up has been surfing around for too long. Your job isn’t to clean yourself up.
Your only job is to seek God and live according to your purpose in Him and He will show you how.
God Is Near To The Brokenhearted
The presence of bad times is a ploy to make you think that God is absent. But do you know that when your heart is broken that that’s a time when God is near?
Instead of running to the food, begin to see who is near you. Before running to the bottle, walk towards the One who is always there.
Pornography, binge eating, drugs, people, alcohol, and sex cannot give you the healing that you’re looking for. None of these external things can heal your internal wounds.
You need the One who has vowed to be near so take a moment to allow Him to be who you need Him to be.

4 Practical Ways To Draw Closer To God
When I felt that God wasn’t with me, the only thing I knew to do was pray and look for encouraging messages on Youtube. I also found myself listening to worship just to feel close to Him.
My encouragement to you is to try these things along with the four practical ways to draw closer to God down below. Here are four practical ways to draw closer to God:
1. Read Your Bible
John 1:1-3 ESV-In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
I know what you’re thinking “the bible is boring”, but do you understand that when you read God’s word you are with Him? Jesus is the Word of God!
The Word of God is the mind of God.
One of the best ways to be in tune with anyone is to get to know what’s in their mind. Reading the Bible is the best way to draw closer to God plus you get to practice learning His voice.
Tip To Read Your Bible: Don’t try to read a lot in one sitting. Read a couple verses at a time, pull out what stands out, and talk about it with God.
2. Read A Devotional
2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV-All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
There are plenty of devotionals out there to choose from. Devotionals are short excerpts or bible studies that speak into your life using God’s word.
A daily devotional can really satisfy the craving of getting closer to God. Begin to build a habit of reading or listening to a devotional each morning before you jump on your email, Instagram, or Tiktok.
Did I mention that we have a segment on our Youtube channel called Devotions With Dev? Check out episode one and head over to our channel for more.
Tip To Reading Devotionals: Choose a devotional in an area that you want to grow in or an area God is leading you to grow in.
3.Talk To Him
Matthew 6:6 ESV-But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
Prayer is simply talking to God. You don’t need to say anything fancy. Just be you and tell Him how you feel.
Talk to Him about how you would like to get closer to Him and ask Him to lead you on how to do it. Remember that this is not a religious act.

Tip To Talk To Him: Just start. You can literally talk about anything with God.

You have to become familiarized with God’s word and His character. A great way to do this is to listen to sermons and encouraging messages on Youtube.
As you listen, you will be strengthened in your faith.
Tip For Listening To Sermons: While listening to sermons, you may begin to have thoughts in your mind that tell you reasons why you shouldn’t listen. In these moments, keep listening. Jesus is drawing you near.
