What Is Mindset And Why Is It Important?
Your mindset is the direct reflection of how you see, and make sense of the world around you. It’s a set of beliefs that you live both, consciously and unconsciously.
Your mindset influences how you think, feel, and react in any situation. Mindset could also be described as a series of movie trailers based on the many experiences you’ve had in life.
Truthfully, the way you think in your heart is the way you live your life (Proverbs 23:7). If you want to change anything in life, you must first work on your mind.
The Power Of Believing In Yourself
Can you honestly say that you believe in yourself? Believing in yourself is a key component to the success you have in life.
Although success is subjective, many can agree that if you don’t believe in you, then it will be hard for others to do so.
Whatever you believe about yourself will be a direct result of your words, actions and feelings; not only towards yourself, but towards others.
It’s extremely important to get to know the real you so that the power that’s already inside of you can spring forth. The amazing thing about all of this is that you didn’t create yourself so all you have to do is believe what God has already spoken of you!
Your belief is the key to unlocking everything that’s already yours. If you’ve been looking for love, it’s already in you. Joy? It’s inside of you too!
Your purpose and confidence to walk in it? It’s all there!
Everything you need to live effectively in this life is inside of you. You just have to have the power to believe in yourself. Not in your actions, but in who he says you are.
How To Change Mindset And Attitude
Your mindset is how you see the world. Your attitude is, how you relate to it. So your mindset gives birth to your attitude.
There are two types of mindsets: a fixed mindset, and a growth mindset.
When you have a fixed mindset, your mind is made up about what you’re capable of based on what you’ve experienced. It’s a very black and white way of thinking.
For example, a fixed mindset says ” I’m either good or bad at this”. There’s no in between.
A growth mindset, however, is what I’ll describe as a colorful mindset. This is the mindset where you believe that anything is possible. It’s where you believe that things can change as you put in the effort to learn.
Jesus’ first public message comes for your mindset and attitude, and from what he spoke, we all are capable of having a growth mindset.
He says “ Repent, for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17).
The word repent means to change the way you think. His first message was telling you to change the way you think because how you’ve been conditioned to think and live is not what God dreamed for you.
Five Ways To Change Your Mindset And Attitude
1. Challenge What You Believe
Changing your mindset starts by accepting that what you’ve been taught hasn’t always been the right thing. Just because something has always been, doesn’t mean that it’s the way it should be.
Almost everything you’ve been taught in this world is the opposite to how you’ve been created to live.
2. Face Your Fears
One of the biggest fears you may have is the fear of what others will think. This could tie into fears about failure, how you should act, what you’re wearing, what car you’re driving, and how you choose to live your life.
Fear can be a destructive emotion if it’s not seen with the proper perspective. What people think shouldn’t sway you away from righteousness.
Righteousness is a word that describes your positioning with God, but it’s also defined as the right way of doing things.
When you’re approached to do something that goes against what you know to do, how do you respond? For example, what do you do when someone has an attitude with you? Do you give them the same energy?
One of the things Jesus said to do is to be merciful towards others, including those who are not merciful toward you.
This is why he said to love your neighbors, and pray for those who persecute you (Matthew 5:43).
Its easy to give someone the same energy they give you, but doing the opposite, shows that you are practicing righteousness. This also starts within your heart, because whatever is in your heart will come out.
It’s time to face your fears and practice righteousness. Although, this can make you feel weak, you are actually exemplifying strength. Remember, it’s the opposite of what you’ve been taught.
3. Shift Your Perspective
Have you been struggling with negative thoughts that have been altering your perspective? Whatever you’re consistently listening to will help or harm your perspective.
Think about how you approach hardship. Are your hardships looked at as obstacles or opportunities? Nothing has meaning until you give it a mission.
The things you go through can either hinder or help you. It all starts with your perspective.
One thing that I started confessing is “nothing can happen to me because everything is happening for me”. This belief has helped me to see that every problem is positioning me and helping me to see God and myself in new ways.
4. Change Your Speech
Remember, your mindset is a direct reflection of how you see and make sense of the world around you. And your mindset gives birth to your attitude.
The moment you speak about anything, you are creating the environment for it to live or die (Proverbs 18:21).
How do you speak about yourself? Do you find yourself wallowing in negative self talk?
If so, you will need to recognize, reverse, and recall the negative self talk and develop a new speech pattern.
5. Put Into Practice What You’ve Learned
There’s too many times that you’ve gotten the knowledge to do what you need to do without acting on it.
Receiving knowledge without applying it is like looking into the mirror, walking away, and immediately forgetting what you look like(James 1:23-24).
It’s time for you to put your feet to your faith. If you want change, you have to make it happen. There’s no one that will do it for you; it’s completely up to you.
Changing your mindset is an art. Even if you’re not artistic, you have the Master artist who’s always ready to help you.
This post is all about changing your mindset, attitude, and lifestyle.
Remember, you’re destined to win because he got up!
