Hey Besties! 2021 was the year when I had the question “Is God always with us?”
I realized that this question came at a time when every one of my friends left me. I was abandoned and the enemy was trying his best to convince me that God had abandoned me too.
Maybe you are in a season where you are asking is God still with me? You may have done something you aren’t proud of and think God has left you because of it.
Whatever situation you’ve found yourself in, know that God is always with you.

The Meaning Of God Is Always With Us
Before we get any further, I need to demystify the meaning of God being with us. God being with you doesn’t mean that he has you under surveillance.
Just because God sees all and knows all doesn’t mean that he is spying on you or waiting for you to mess up. You don’t need to tip toe around in life thinking that everything you do is wrong.
Even when you curse, drink, smoke, or etc you don’t need to hide that from God. He already knows what you do so why try to clean yourself up?
If God is always with you that means that he has accepted you along with the things that you do. God wants YOU!
This is why he chooses to be with you. You cannot clean yourself up.
The lie that tells you that you need to clean yourself up has been surfing around for too long. Your job isn’t to clean yourself up. Your only job is to be with him just as you were created to be.
God Is Near To The Brokenhearted
The presence of bad times is a ploy to make you think that God is absent. But do you know that when your heart is broken that that’s a time when God is near?
Instead of running to the food, begin to see who is near you. Before running to the bottle, walk towards the one who is always there.
Pornagraphy, binge eating, drugs, people, alcohol, and sex cannot soothe you. None of these external things can heal your internal wounds.
You need the One who is near so take a moment to allow him to be who you need him to be.
How To Allow God To Be There For You
- Take 5 minutes to just sit and think before self soothing.
- Talk to God about what’s going on. Get into detail about why you feel the way you feel.
- Remind yourself that God is near.
- Read God’s word. Go to the Psalms specifically (if lead).
- Wait and pay attention for God’s response.
4 Practical Ways To Draw Closer To God
When I questioned if God is still with me I did the only thing I knew how to do which was pray. I had a little hope to pull me through in those trying times. These are simple methods to help you draw closer to God.
1. Read your bible
I know what you’re thinking “the bible is boring”, but do you understand that when you read God’s word you are being with him? The Bible is literally the mind of God! One of the best ways to be in tune with anyone is to get to know what is in their mind. Reading the Bible is the best way to draw closer to God plus you get to practice learning his voice.
2. Read a devotional
There are plenty of devotionals out there to choose from. Devotionals are short excerpts or bible studies that speak into your life using God’s word. A daily devotional can really satisfy the craving of getting closer to God. Begin to build a habit of reading a devotional each morning before you jump on your email, Instagram, or Tiktok.
Here are some devotionals that I recommend:

Also there are millions of bible plans on the YOUVersion bible app. All you have to do is search for a topic and BOOM you have your devotional.
3.Talk to Him
Prayer is simply talking to God. You don’t need to say anything fancy. Just be you and tell him how you feel. Talk to him about how you would like to get closer to him and ask him to lead you on how to do it. Remember that this is not a religious act. This is all about having a relationship with your Bestie Forever.
4. Listen to sermons on YouTube
Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17).
You have to become familiarized with the nature of God. Going to the places that nurture your seed will help you get closer to him.
WARNING: While listening to sermons, you may begin to have thoughts in your mind that tell you reasons why you shouldn’t listen. In these moments, try to listen harder. God is drawing you near.
